No News Is Bad News
A fundamental part of any country, the local newspapers are what define Eswitch and its inhabitants. Over the years, journalism has become a well - respected profession here, with approved journalists working in the modern day around the world to bring information to our tiny and isolated island. Here is a list of all the important (and unimportant) papers and newsletters circulating the isle currently.
The Island Gazette
The island's main newspaper, focusing on current events in the outside world and major developments at home. A daily paper, though often subject to falling behind schedule ie receiving Tuesdays news on Friday.
Eyewitness
Your daily dose of left - wing propaganda. Every now and then a proper fact may crop up, but never rely on this paper. Unless, of course, you want to be laughed at for at least 20 years.
The Reporter
Your weekly dose of right - wing propaganda. Will often publish the inconclusive results of some sort of study, and attempt to argue that they prove something completely unrelated. Frequent abuser of hyperbole.
The Economist
Waste of time, money and paper. Uses lots of big words that no one understands. Outdated copies are often seen carried around by important people who wish to look smart.
The Revolutionary's Journal
Absolutely hilarious newsletter read by everyone. Pokes fun at everything in a lighthearted and generally non offensive manner. Run by a handful of happy go lucky Frenchmen, and this one really nice lady from Cuba.
The Hourglass
Basically The Sun, but more obnoxious. Excellent tinder for starting fires with.
The Nor'Wester
For the sizable seafaring community. Enjoyable, quirky, and often downright funny. Includes detailed weather analysis, and the odd article or two from top brass in an effort to be more involved with the community. Easily the most lovable (and therefore most subsidised) newsletter around.
